Tuesday July 25th, 2017: Anxiety On the Brain by Andrew Donaldson, MA, LLPC
From 5:30pm-6:15pm
The word anxiety can be traced back to its Latin root, “angō,” which has two meanings: 1. “I cause physical pain,” and 2. “I torment, trouble, vex, and/or distress.” Anxiety is painful, and the word itself gives credence to that fact. On top of that, it is an increasingly common problem that is plaguing our society. Doctors are even reporting escalating numbers of illnesses caused and sustained primarily by the impact chronic anxiety has on our bodies. Unfortunately, there are many common misconceptions about anxiety, what causes it, how to help, and even if help is possible.
To kick off the Summer Series, Andrew Donaldson, MA, LLPC will present the neuroscience, relational science, and behavioral studies that answer the questions surrounding anxiety, proven techniques to slow the brain down, and the best practices to ultimately reduce the presence of daily anxiety. This talk can be valuable for anyone struggling with anxiety themselves, as well as anyone who knows, loves, or cares for someone who does.
