Trisha Tanis, PhD

Licensed Psychologist

Pronouns: she/her/hers

Dr. Trisha Tanis is a Licensed Psychologist in Grandville, Michigan. She strives to cultivate a collaborative environment when working with individuals or couples to work towards treatment goals together. Trisha meets clients where they are by attending to their unique experiences, needs, and goals, to facilitate deeper understanding of themselves and to guide therapy. She is trained in psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and relational modalities, and draws on multiple perspectives to mold treatment to the individual. Trisha believes that building awareness for patterns of experiences can facilitate insight and healing, and allow people to challenge old patterns to foster lasting growth.

“I would feel honored to walk beside you on your own path to self-discovery and healing. Your experiences should be valued, and I seek to provide an empowering space for you to deepen your understanding of self without judgement. Further, I emphasize an authentic therapy relationship as paramount to creating safety to explore thoughts that might be hard to face alone. We can all use a bit of help at times, and I’m excited to help you identify what meaningful change could look like for you.”

Trisha completed her PhD at the University of Detroit Mercy in 2022, and has mental health experience in academic, community, and university counseling center settings. In addition to individual psychotherapy, Trisha has previously facilitated interpersonal process groups, couples work, skills groups, and psychological assessments. Trisha grew up in rural West Michigan, and outside of work enjoys spending time outdoors, trying new restaurants, and painting.
