Kelly Boprie, LMSW, CEDS
Practicing in Grandville
Working with people and partnering with them as they learn to walk in freedom has guided Kelly’s career. Therapy can be a beautiful place for self actualization, transformation, growth, and healing. Kelly aims to create a safe, supportive, empathic and validating environment for the clients that she sees. “It is a privilege to walk alongside each client as they open up their lives, practice vulnerability, and do the hard work of evaluating where change is needed and healing is encountered”. Kelly enjoys walking alongside each individual as they navigate, reflect, and work on improving their lives, managing their emotions, relationships and behaviors. Kelly utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, exposure response prevention therapy, cognitive processing therapy, mindfulness based practices, and supportive therapy.
Kelly has particular interest working with individuals who are struggling with eating disorders, body image concerns, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma, sexual abuse and spiritual issues. After recognizing the need for competent providers to treat eating disorders, as well as noticing the need to have a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of eating disorders, she completed her certification through the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals to become a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS). Kelly treats individuals with anorexia nervous, bulimia nervous, binge eating disorder, other specified eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder. “I desire to walk with you as you find peace and healing, freedom and acceptance in your body, mind, and in your relationship with food”.
Kelly also has experience working with adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders, as well as adult children of alcoholics, parent and child trauma, self harm, social anxiety, women’s issues, and spiritual concerns. Kelly is also certified in SYMBIS, a premarital assessment, and offers speciality services of premarital assessment over the course of 3 sessions.
Kelly earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Calvin College in 2005, and her Masters in Social Work from Grand Valley State University in 2009. She has worked in outpatient therapy with adults and adolescents at Pine Rest for over 7 years. Other professional experience included working with adolescents in residential treatment and outpatient services, working with families in crisis, and outpatient services with adults.
