Liz Zylstra (LMSW) graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She then continued on to graduate school, graduating with Honors with a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2016, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration in 2017.
Liz works to empower individuals to overcome personal obstacles while achieving recovery from addictive behaviors and other life challenges. Through evidenced-based interventions, Liz helps men and women achieve recovery from substance abuse, problematic sexual behaviors, and co-occurring disorders including anxiety and depression. Liz has worked with individuals in recovery since 2013, and has had the opportunity to work with clients in all walks of life.
Liz has spent the last several years focusing on how struggles with mental illness, substance use and problematic sexual behaviors affect someone’s emotional and physical well-being. Through treatment techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Illness Management Recovery, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Liz works along side people to build a life free of these behaviors, and to promote healthy relationships and improve overall well-being.
