Desiree Andersen is a Licensed Social Worker. She graduated from Grand Valley State University, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Criminal Justice minor (2011) and a Master’s Degree in Social Work (2013). She has 5+ years of experience working in social work, providing guidance, support and resources to individuals as they begin their journey of personal growth and development, focusing on achieving happiness while creating confidence and a supportive environment for them to grow. Desiree’s extensive experience comes from working at Pine Rest, providing services to an all-male residential treatment program, to psychiatric inpatient hospitalization units and as an outpatient clinician.

Desiree aims to bring an accepting and inviting presence into each session, with encouragement for the challenges that life brings to each individual in different ways. Desiree specializes in working with adults and older adults through individual therapy, utilizing theory and interventions from multiple therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Person-Centered Therapy.

Desiree’s aim as a therapist is to build relationships and work collaboratively with individuals to address their specific goals. She has significant experience working with individuals experiencing addiction or substance use issues. In addition, Desiree specializes in working with elderly individuals, helping them adjust and cope with any issues, difficulties with life changes or transitions they might experience.
