Ben Balke, LPC
Practicing in Cascade
Ben is a Licensed Professional Counselor. He received his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Aquinas College and his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Dayton. He enjoys working with individuals. He utilizes a variety of therapeutic models including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral techniques. He personalizes the techniques used and topics explored to the needs and nature of the client. When he is not working, he enjoys fitness, walking in nature, following collegiate and professional sports, and spending time with family and friends.
“I strive to create a safe and comfortable space where my clients are able to freely explore their feelings and thoughts. I add activities to the session when appropriate such as playing a game, using a worksheet, watching a video, and practicing a technique. I value open and honest communication which is modeled throughout my sessions through checking in with clients for feedback and asking them about their goals for counseling and the session.
I love working with clients and aiding them on their path to happiness. My definition of happiness isn’t experiencing joy all the time. Happiness occurs when a person is living a rich and fulfilling life that is theirs. Topics that I commonly explore in efforts to reach that level of happiness are exploring values, looking at unhelpful thought patterns and strategies to aid in confronting those thoughts, exploring behavior patterns, strengthening communication skills, and helping clients see their strengths and celebrate their victories.
I am honored to walk alongside my clients on their path to happiness. Discussing mental health concerns can cause people discomfort, but when my clients do share their thoughts and feelings I highlight their strength and courage sharing those items takes which aids in growing their comfort level and confidence. “
